Wax Road roadwork begins on Monday, June 16th! We ask that you take a detour if at all possible. If you must drive on Wax Road, please drive slowly and cautiously. We truly apologize for any inconvenience this may cause but remember the outcome will be a blessing!

🌟 The More You Know… 🌟
🌳 That heart-filled tree in the City of Central’s logo? It’s not just for looks! 🌳❤️
🌿❤️ Every detail—from the flowing blue lines to the canopy above—was designed to represent a part of who we are: a caring, growing, and united community.

🚧 ROADWORK ALERT: HWY 3034/WAX ROAD – MAGNOLIA BRIDGE ROAD REHAB PROJECT 🚧
Big improvements are coming, but we’re going to have to power through a little short-term pain to get there.
👉 The project is expected to begin within the next 10 days, according to the contractor and LADOTD.
🚦 Please Read: Important Travel Notice
The road will typically have one lane open, but it’s going to be very difficult to travel through the area.
We strongly recommend only local traffic use the road.
Everyone else: please avoid the area and take alternate routes.
📍 Project Area:
From near the Sullivan Road intersection
Past Central High School
All the way to the Greenwell Springs Road intersection
The goal is to complete the section near the high school before school starts.
⛔️ What You Can Expect:
We know this is going to be a major inconvenience. Unfortunately, the road surface is completely worn out and must be repaired.
We ask that you:
✔️ Be patient
✔️ Plan ahead
✔️ Alter your usual routes
We also know there will be plenty of experts in the comments and watching from their front porches and steering wheels, but we’ve got to follow the guidance of the experts who actually have the contract. 😉
Rest assured, the City of Central is working closely with LADOTD to get this done as quickly and efficiently as possible.
🎉 Looking Ahead:
The short-term pain will be erased when the road is finished. We are excited about these improvements and what they will mean for our community.
Thank you for your patience and for working with us to build a better Central! 💛

"While we are flushing you may possibly experience lower pressure than normal and could have a tint in the water. If you use any water in your home during the posted flush times you may draw this water into your plumbing system. Toilets and hot water heaters have tanks that can keep this water around long after we are done. If you continue to have discoloration or cloudy water after the posted flush has ended, please let the cold water tap in your kitchen run for approximately 3-5 minutes. If the cold water in the kitchen is clear and the hot water and toilets still have a tint, they may require a brief flush. If any of these issues continue after the posted flush times, please call us at 225-925-2011."
